You should be able to disable Secure Boot for that without issues

Trying to run memtest86+ gives a bad shim error. Based on the forum this means secure boot conflicts with it.
Can I simply turn secure boot off, run the test, and turn it back on? Are there pitfalls to consider, like some keys not matching anymore?
