Description:
I like Mint and its collection of installed programs but I want to use paperwm so I have installed gnome.
The mint update tray icon appears correctly in an X11 season but not when using wayland. It does appear in the Cinnamon Wayland session
I can’t use X11 because trackpad gestures don’t work and they are crucial to my workflow.
I have the AppIndicator and KStatusNotifierItem Support extension installed so other “legacy” tray icons appear as expected.
Tested on Mint 22.3 (Gnome 46) and LMDE 7(Gnome 48)
• [Describe the issue in detail. Include steps to reproduce, relevant context, and any error messages encountered.]
Steps to Reproduce:
- Install Gnome ‘sudo apt install gnome-session’
- Log into a Gnome Wayland Session.
- Install the AppIndicator and KStatusNotifierItem Support Gnome extension.
- Reboot
- Log in to Gnome again.
- Mintupdate icon never appears in the top bar.
Expected Behavior:
Following the steps above the Mintupdate tray icon should appear 20 seconds after boot (the default startup delay).
Actual Behavior:
The Mintupdate tray icon never appears in the top bar. I confirmed that Mintupdate is still running in the background using the System Monitor.
