So; I think I'm fucked.
I'm trying to format my old PC to sell it, aaaand I went into a few Linux Mint forums to find the easiest way to safely erase data
I booted up mint from a USB drive , set it to erase and substitute all data from the disks menu... And it's frozen. At 42,6% , for the last few hours. The Panel is also missing.

I can't just disconnect the USB stick and idk what happens if I try to reset it mid formatting so ... What do I do ?

Hi sorry for the delay

Seems like you're secure erasing it

What's your goal exactly? @modern yoke

Just format the pc

Do you want to install the system on it, or just have it blank?

modern yoke
#

install the system probably , even if its empty

In that case, please restart, open disks app, select hard drive, go to menu - format disk, choose "do not overwrite data (fast)" in the first field and GPT in the second - click ok

it appears the 42.6% was a visual bug of some sort

#

the 1tb partition seems to be free space

#
