#Can't log into other User in Mint 22.3 Xfce

Hello! I've recently received an old (roughly 10+ years old model!) laptop from a relative and installed the latest Mint Xfce version on it (for both simple features and low resource usage, this laptop has to run with roughly 2gb of ram for reference!) and have started properly using it since yesterday.

I have organized it into two Users, one for my mother and then an user for myself. The issue being that as of today it cannot log into my User, only my mother's (which it does on boot, I'd like to know if and how I can change that); inserting the correct password on the users screen seemingly attempts to load my User as shown by a brief black screen with the cursor on it, but immediately fails and throws me back into the login screen; I can log into my mother's User normally (it is set to not ask for password on boot).

If relevant, yesterday I had to access Mint in secure mode to run passwd and change my mother's User password from that menu, a bit after on yesterday, I logged into my own user and ran sudo passwd on terminal to make a short (4 digits) long password instead of the minimum 6 digits.

forgot to specify that the first user created was my mom's, complete with having a root/personal folder named a generic name as I thought i'd have to return this computer to a relative, and that my User, added later, is classified as an Admin account while my mother's isnt; unsure if this causes any issues
