#How do I enable panel interaction in Fullscreen?

Hey Mint Community,

I'm a freshly transitioned from Windows guy, only few weeks running Mint daily. I love the experience, but one thing that has been bugging me the most so far is that if I press (SUPER/WIN) key, and I try to press anything on the panel, the panel does not respond and just disappears. This has been extremely annoying, if I say it lightly.

I tried doing some googling myself, and unfortunately, the best I have found is "urm, akchyally, when you press SUPER it only shows up the menu, the panel just happens to be displayed along because user complained it doesn't", etc etc. So, no solution to the problem found.

Even if that behaviour is by design, it is still a major QoL I am missing from Windows, especially as a dual-monitor user. So I wanted to ask here just in case: maybe someone knows either a hidden tweak that would bring the panel in focus with SUPER key, or some custom panel solution that would make it behave so? I would greatly appreciate any tips on this. Thanks in advance!

unfortunately a cinnamon limitation as of now, although you can do Win/Super + D to pull up the desktop as a workaround (where the panel will be clickable)

I see, thanks for reply. So far I have been getting used to relying on the Alt+Tab to shift focus and been trying to get used to that workflow, although it still sometimes causes annoying limitations.

In case I wanted to try out a distro where that would not be an issue, do you know what would be the next most popular, user-friendly alternative? Fedora I presume?

the only window manager that does that afaik is IceWM , used in AntiX Linux
