Description: Installed latest Mint Cinnamon distro and it doesn't connect to my Realtek router. Computer can connect to a hotspot and internet.

I belive the issue is the driver but checking their website I don't think there is one which works with the latest distro.

(I'm a laymen btw, spent a few hours trying to figure out what was wrong, sorry if this is known issue)

Steps to reproduce:
Install latest distrabution and attempt to connect to Realtek 1gb modem

Sure but give me a few minutes I need to switch over to that computer and setup discord to do so.

well both wired and wireless interface devices show as up so

#

seems fine. gotta sort out your wifi security/ encryption protocol settings perhaps

#

ensure any antennae are connected to the wifi card

I've got an ethernet connection to the router and don't intend to use wifi on this computer.

#

Wifi antennae is connected now

#

Just switched to wifi connection, seems to be working

#

Wired is not working

loud sapphire
#

check or reseat connections firmly

#

ensure the correct port on router is the one used for the cable feeding the computer (should be a LAN -labelled port)

#

to test wired after, right click on the connection profile icon in the tray area of taskbar, and disconnect from the wireless network fully (or click disable, for the wifi)

Confirmed line works with different computer and now reinstalled on this one.

nmcli -o may offer some insight also

#

should show an inet4 (IP ver. 4) address on interface eno1

open Network by name from start menu

#

delete the current wired connection. set up a new one. use all defaults for auto-IP (dhcp)

#

sorry that image took a bit to load

#

I've done as you asked concerning deleting the wired profile

#

It has not corrected the issue

loud sapphire
#

perhaps the wireguard stuff as seen above has something to do with it

If your refering to the vpn then this problem existed before its installation.

#

Let me disable it and run the command again

#

Best I can tell

#

Its the driver for the ethernet. Linux 6.15 is the latest driver they have on their website which was r8126. Currently installed driver is R8169

#

@loud sapphire Could this be the reason?

loud sapphire
#

idk really

#

your current kernel handles this. check with uname -r

late wedge
#

6.17.0-19-generic

loud sapphire
#

that should be fine. leave this open for some time

#

use wifi for now

#

Sure, thanks for your help.
