#Mint WiFi Incredibly slow

@winged yoke
I can use my hotspot for necessary stuff but I’d rather not run up my bill
disconnect from hotspot. use only your LAN wifi, and test with https://pcmag.speedtestcustom.com/
Funny enough trying to switch my band and or channel results in the connection being lost entirely
It’s uh…so bad the server times out
I had to use my hotspot to even get to the website
turn off mint firewall entirely if on
It is
I know there has to be something coming through cause I’m getting news articles on the homepage of Firefox
those may be cached
from if u ever used the hotspot
case info here:
show result of nmcli -o
first with NO HOTSPOT device connected
then clear the terminal, and run it again and show WITH hotspot connected

which of 2 is hotspot? i presume first one
yeah
route4 default via 192.168.1.1 metric 20600
that metric indicates it's going thru a shitload of hops
oof
instead of direct path
how does one like...STOP that from happening preferably
idk. someone else can offer input on this in due time
so basically all of my packets are getting stuck somewhere along the line and looping
idk. is it one router not far physically, or a crapload of mesh-network nodes / access points in your building?
nope
its about 35-40ft away with no closed walls
imma go unplug it
I forgot the WiFi, unplugged the router and the modem and now I’m just waiting
Welp that did jack
This sounds like a “wait for someone with more knowledge to come along”
indeed.
I can’t wait for much longer though is the issue
I’ve got stuff to do
If you know anyone send em my way
can borrow a wifi usb dongle and test if that works any better on your WLAN
Unfortunately I don’t know anyone with one, and ordering one would take too long. Also I’ve dumped 100$ in to hardware for this already so
Also both of my usb ports are being taken up by my mouse and keyboard (I somehow wore my laptop keyboard out)

@winged yoke It appears to be a Linux issue as Fedora works fine
