I installed Mint XFCE freshly. After the computer goes to sleep for a while I touch a key to wake it back up. When the password screen appears, I type in my password but it instantly loops back to the password screen. I have entered the terminal via CTRL+ALT+F1 and entered my username and password, it worked instantly. This login loop appears to affect only the GUI. Any fixes?

This same issue was appearing on Cinnamon earlier when I installed Cinnamon, and I thought XFCE would fix it. Guess not.

#

This may be a hardware issue. I will continue to investigate tomorrow.

from TTY such as TTY1 or TTY4, log in and then show results of inxi -SMGxxx ; mokutil --sb

#

note the spaces and lettercase precisely as shown above.

Hey @fading ember

Output:

This is the best I could do

I ran

sudo systemctl mask sleep.target suspend.target hibernate.target hybrid-sleep.target

Which seems to have resolved it

#

It’s a laptop in headless mode anyways

#

But it’s likely a hardware GPU issue right?
