I have looked in the command promp and used "pavucontrol" and "alsamixer". alsamixer shows my sound card as defult but pavucontrol only shows HDMI.
Looking online keeps me going in a circle. Would someone be willing to help me with a step by step to help me get my sound to work please?

in alsamixer press F6. If you don't see a choice that resemble the real soundcard of the computer, then it's not compatible

Yes I see that but it does not show up in the sound settings only my HDMI and I dont want that. I want to use my headphones

can u plug headphones to a TV or monitor with a headphone jack?

for some reason, it's incompatible right now. that's why it doesnt show in the GUI mixer, (but oddly does in alsamixer)

you could test by live booting an Arch-based distro like Endeavour OS. it will have the most leading-edge linux kernel. may work to run ur sound
