#Black Screen

i would disable 'secure boot' and 'fast boot' in the uefi bios. if you have a nvidia gpu i would try nouveau and proprietary driver versions.
i tried booting with secure boot on and off and ive used nouveau but i dont know how to do anything else other than that
those didnt change anything though
i dont have an option to enable or disable fast boot in my bios
do you have an integrated gpu in the cpu and monitor outputs on the mainboard? so you could switch the monitor cable to that mainboard monitor plug?
then i don't understand what you mean with "trying start my gpu". are you able to boot from your usb stick blindly (better: blindfolded?) ?
when i try to boot i get nothing but a a black screen and then i completely lose gpu signal
i cant tell if it is actually booting or not
a lot of things could cause that: mainboard (inclusive cpu, uefi/bios), graphics card, maybe power supply. could you insert an old graphics card? linux has drivers for old nvidia and amd is "never" an issue anyway.
i dont have an older gpu on me but try and see if i can get one soon
last resort: do you have diagnose leds on the mainboard? or even digits?
i have lights but they are not turning on
i saw someone have the same issue and they also had a msi motherboard but apparently they were having usb issues but ive used multiple different usbs and they all do the same thing
what model or type is your msi mainboard?
msi mpg B550I Gaming Edge
at least the mainboard got integrated graphics - but your cpu doesn't support it, right? what is the model/type?
my cpu is a ryzen 7 5700
this one is without graphics, right. And i got the same model 🙂
yeah base 5700
i forgot to mention my pc freezes up when i try to boot
how can you tell if your gpu doesn't work?
the power button needs to be geld down fir it to turn off
ah, right! this way 😬
if you like to tinker you could pull out all RAM modules (if the machine is off) - but watch out for electrostatic discharge (ESD) hazards! one of the diagnostic leds should light up when you power up the machine.
I'll try this when i get home
okay if you got the graphics card then i would first try exchanging the gpu. If it doesn't work, i would secondly pull out the DDR4 modules.
