I'm trying to restore the font settings back to what they were before, but I can't remember how they were! I'm currently using LMDE 7 Cinnamon.

set the monospace font to a mono font. i suggest Dejavu Sans Mono Book

Also I suggest your mother tongue is not English? Does Google or Adobe offer some fonts of your mother tongue?
