#.kra thumbnails missing

I've tried to scower the internet for solutions to fix this, I found one but I do not understand it's instructions. The directions it offers feel like the equivalent of "to draw an owl first you draw a circle, then you draw the rest of the owl!"

This are the directions I was going off of and at the end it just so to do something I have absolutely no knowledge of

it says make this file:
File:
/usr/share/thumbnailers/kra.thumbnailer

The file name is written by me in bold, and the path is there before it.

The contents of said text file shall contain precisely the following

TryExec=unzip
Exec=sh -c "unzip -p \"%i\" preview.png > %o"
MimeType=application/x-krita;```

sudo xed /usr/share/thumbnailers/kra.thumbnailer to get you started...

if thumbnailers directory doesn't already exist, then create it.

oh, I'm an idiot, I opened the wrong file manager, I had dolphin open instead of nemo

just opened nemo and... unfortunately it did not work

well use Dolphin then.

You may ask why I'm even bothering with Nemo. Dolphin and Nemo handle different, yes, I can just fully convert it but I'm stubborn and there's some functionality that doesn't work as cleanly in dolphin as it at least seems to work in nemo

another thing that may need to take place is the OS has to fully regenerate the thumbnails

this means you have to clear the thumbnail cache to begin with

you can use bleachbit (non-root mode) to do that easily
