Is there a way to restore deleted files to their previous location?

My sibling deleted a lot of files from an external drive I have but luckily he didn't permanently delete them since theyre in the drives own trash folder. Is there a way to restore them all to their original location? The way I have these files organized was a bit complicated so it would be nice if I can make them all go back to each spot they were deleted from originally. I tried highlighting them all and right clicking them but didn't see a restore option

go to the system's trash folder, not one on a specific drive. you can restore from there

That works for an external hard drive connected via usb too?
