this is what i got when i ran inxi -SMAxxx
yeah the Nvidia and Radeon things only handle HDMI/DP output of sound
Family 17h is the internal soundcard
cant screenshot for some reason
maybe fn blocks prtscr?
u can search 'screenshot' in start menu, right click it : add to panel
it only did that now
printscreen not doing anything
now it works
everytime i show i click whats in the profile it doesnt let me screenshot
there
then show the input tab
u have to click "copy" each time
anything else on that tab?
here's all input devices
for "show" dropdown, put to all except monitors
in the family 17h Port dropdown, put to 'internal mic"
and try that , even with external microphone connected. test on www.vocaroo.com
how do you do this
or gnome-sound-recorder app
what's the dropdown offer?
dropdown offer?
whats that
nope
so you have 3.5mm mic port and an internal mic somwhere on the screen bezel, right?
yes, and the actual port?
the only microphone that im attempting to use is the internal mic
oh
jam any 3.5mm plug into the MIC jack. as a test
then use the sound recorder app
mic slider should be around 65 percent
if it is either a 2-contact or 3-contact pin, sure
there's often an issue on linxu for laptop mic jacks and the motherboard liason with the OS to tell plugged vs unplugged etc
oh u mean the whole entire end of the cord is strictly a USB male plug?
i've seen ones with usb for the video data, and a separate 3.5 mm TRS plug
what am i even looking at there?
3.5m plug thars connected to the usb male adaptor
if i were to connect a 3.5mm headset it could work
you'd need a TRRS headset to dual TRS male splitter cable. since your pc has a dedicated hp and mic ports
so, the webcam is PURE USB
yeah
yeah idk
try a dedicated cheapass mic that is a single TRS male 3.5 connector
or a USB mic
you'd need this if using a headset
but that's first if u prove the mic jack even works on the laptop
not actually headset i forgot the name for the ear only
else these, or the variety that use a combo port that handles headset
what contacts are we talking about
end of ur earbuds
and trrs
same 3.5mm
your earbuds are 4-contact 3.5mm TRRS?
test this:
unplug all unnecessary stuff
no usb audio stuff, no webcam, no adapters
plug ur headhpones to the MIC jack of the pc.
something like this
then once plugged in, adjust pavucontrol in the input tab.
and see if works in Sound Recorder, as you speak toward the screen bezel
or to the mic section of your earbuds. just see.
ill go back to this tommorow, i dont have the earbuds yet
i didnt realize its 2 am
yeah this is technically a headset.
specifically a earbud headset
