if it's legacy system, show picture of BIOS, in the boot category/section
also, boot Linux Mint, and open the app named Disks and click hdd and show full pic of that app
look before you texted me i reinstal windows 10 LTSC so Linux was gone
What should i do ?
ok so if Windows works now, check two things
yes its work
its "System Information" app, for the BIOS mode
and secondly, powercfg /a in powershell
from the settings right?
just search it in the search bar of taskbar
and this?
sure give me second?
where the hell powershell is?
ok
or do win+r and type ps
firstly what do you need in system info?
the BIOS mode
it'll either say UEFI or Legacy
the version?
BIOS MODE*
this a very old computer?
ok show the ps thing
ok what do you need from the powershell
does it show fast startup in the list of enabled things or at bottom saying disabled?
it says the followin sleep states are available on this system: hibernate/faststartup
that has to be disabled for dual boot or else trouble
type Get-Disk
what does it show for partition scheme on far right?
you mean partition style?
or that, yes
MBR
for the hard drive.
yes
ok close that powershell. remember this info.
ok
right click on start menu.
open powershell or cmd as Administrator
and do powercfg /h off
then
you can confirm it is off . use powercfg /a again
then you can boot usb - make sure to use legacy mode USB stick not UEFI mode if presented the option.
then choose "install alongside Windows" in the installer.
but i split my hdd ?
it will then offer a slider to divide the space.\
i mean shrink volume
is it at bottom now? as in 'disabled'' ?
yes and also Hybrid Sleep
k
just wen u boot linux live usb, open terminal and do efibootmgr first. BEFORE u run the installer. make sure it says 'efi variables are not supported on this system'
this means u booted correctly in legacy mode
in taking about EFI i have partition for the EFI
u dont need efi
u got to install either BOTH OS in pure UEFI mode, or BOTH OS in pure LEGACY MODE
don't mix it up
so should i delete this partition?
yes
open DISK MANAGEMENT and maximize it. and show full picture
i dont know what ur doing
that green one is not a volume. it's void.
did u create D: yourself?
show clean PICTURE
no menus
show proper picture
u you preshrink u dont MAKE ANY VOLUMES
delete that from in linux and the other one
wtf is the other one beside C: ?
these are partitions i made it when i download linux for the first time beside win
before that issue
I dont need to shrink ever
ok
look
i want to make a bootable device on rufus
what settings i have to do?
it gives me BIOS OR UEFI
bisa
???
bios
NO there is only one choise which says BIOS OR UEFI
just wen u boot linux live usb, open terminal and do efibootmgr first. BEFORE u run the installer. make sure it says 'efi variables are not supported on this system'
this means u booted correctly in legacy mode
hi
and i went to teminal ad do what you told me and its not supported
excellent
type-search Disks in the start menu. that exact word
then click the hard drive and show it.
ok
don't have to maximize the disks app, but please take good pic
frame the camera nice and complete to the window
i didint install just start
and then?
select sda in the selector box , top right
ok i select it
right click and delete partition 5, partition 6, and extended partition 3.
delete those three things i just said
then show.
...
i delete them gparted but they still apeer in disks
close disks
should i format them?
show photo of gparted and please hurry. i have to go soon
i'll be back later i guess.
ok click the big checkmark
then pick "install alongside Windows" in the installer and let it work
and then that screen wont back?
shouldnt
just one thing, i'm curious to know.
run inxi -Mm in the terminal.
what's the BIOS DATE show, and the amount of RAM installed show?
ok.
normally 2018 machine is UEFI capable, and i would say make EVERYTHING UEFI, but u already put windows in legacy. so continue now as you are
I annoyed you right?😅
not realy but i g2g . ttyl
it will make sda3 and sda5 automatically on sda, in the void space and install linux mint on sda5
after install, manage flags on sda3, the "EFI system partition" it made, using gparted. take off esp and boot flag, and put bls_boot flag
then it should boot up no problem
I literally had the same image, but after a while it booted normally. I no longer have windows on that computer
so now you only use linux
my friend @devout holly
i installed linux and it work corectly with win 10
at the first time i restsart my laptop and long press on shift to open GRUB to switch to windows
it works
but when i back to linux it gives me that
@devout holly
hello
can you boot the linux mint live usb please.
when you reach desktop, then open gparted. I want to see the layout and the flags.
well, that's good. I know I had you disable fast startup, which is also good. I still want to see gparted.
ok
ready?
till now no
...
.
ok i'll look
its a new one
mmmmmmmmm
look from yesterday
i have partition with 500 mg
i dont know why u deleted this. i asked show me this picture. DONT TOUCH ANY FKN THING FIRST
u could have just adjusted a flag and run boot repair
this was yesterday
sooo
i download linux
that screen apeer at first when i start windows
but after a while it start corectly
is that normal?
@devout holly
which screen?
