Nvidia X configuration not saving

I'm using Nvidia settings app.

I set some custom resolutions and they work fine, no issues, but the settings just wont save.
I set them up, save and log out.
Next login, resolution is back to default.

On the xorg file I do see something about removed option "metamodes", it's like it's ignoring my options.
I've tried arandr, but similar issue, the correct settings don't save.

Any ideas why it's not saving?

If i remember right you have to use chown command to gain rights to modify the nvidia config file first but you should google that cause i dont remember the correct way to do it
