#Empty list to choose from when updating packages

I installed LMDE 7 and started the update. A window appeared asking me to select a keyboard layout. A large drop-down list appeared, but there were no names! I literally don't know what to choose because there are no names for the options to choose from, just white rectangles.

I deselected the layout and now updates in the update manager are not installed, the update is endless. This is clearly a bug that was also present on the virtual machine with LMDE 6/7.

My system language is set to Russian (Russian Federation).

#

Perhaps I should have installed the language packs from the report manager before updating. I'll try reinstalling LMDE 7 and do that. If that doesn't help, I'll post a photo of what it looks like.

I'll try reinstalling LMDE, but this time with English. I don't know if this is a bug, because there's already a choice on the next page: Arabic, Cyrillic etc.

Why does it look like this in English? 😩 😩 😩

Try updating from the terminal

#

Also I heard there is some problems with keyboard layout on wayland. In the terminal type

echo $XDG_SESSION_TYPE

does it say wayland or x11 ?

@lost jewel ^

#

my suspicion, as I said in #⛑triage is that you logged in specfially using the "Cinnamon on Wayland" option, and that is certainly imperfect.

#

could also be a GPU issue causing it

#

show result of inxi -SGxxx too please, from terminal

I don't see any problems here. This didn't happen during an update in regular Linux Mint.

Again, yes, everything is displayed in English. The problem is that the console doesn't support Russian, so there's nothing to choose from. I simply left the field blank, And on the second page, I selected the recommended option. Everything updated successfully, no problems.

oh, could it be a font issue, perhaps?

I know once I deleted or switched a system font on-the-fly (not knowing it was in use) then I got a lot of blank stuff

so put on English, then search up other regional language packs and fonts for such and install

#

either from Software Manager, or if can't find there, from Synaptic package manager.
