#Upgrading to new cpu and gpu
14 messages · Page 1 of 1 (latest)
it'll probably blackscreen on reboot, so u'll need to safemode boot
see #1295728709306683482 section 3 of index for nvidia
Thanks. Do i need to wipe old drivers or do anything else apart from that?
maybe later on, but probably driver manager will anyway
the CPU should be fine without drivers .
it's not a peripheral after all
and conforms to x86/amd64
Thank you so much. Im ordering everything tomorrow. Ill let you know if i have any issues when installing it. Thanks again
you'll want to make sure the GPU's PCIe gen and length is compatible for your PCIe generation number and length
It is compatible, but i might have some bottleneck. I might need to upgrade the motherboard. I have a gigabyte GA-A320M-S2H-V2
I dont want to bother you too much, but i just want to be sure: Do i do what you said about the manual only if it blackscreens or do i do it even if it boots normally?
if boots normally, then use driver manager. ensure secure boot remains off
I will. I currently have it turned off, but i need to update the BIOS in order for it to support the new CPU, so ill definetely double check that its off
