#Linux Mint died?

ensure that's done
then boot the live usb of Mint. Can probably use boot repair app there
and also view your drives n folders there
I will try tomorrow
Thx
I remember my laptop showing that message before, so my SSD might have problems.
Also I found out that I had Disk Genius on Windows 10 when I was formating my partitions and Usb stick.
shouldn't matter.
I mean I can atleast confirm Linux is still there.
did u turn windows fast startup off?
this is done within Windows as per the link I sent.
I turned it off from Control Panel
now you're booted into the live Mint desktop?
either pick a different mirror to get it from
or use the torrent link, and use a torrent application like Transmission on Windows
Wth I just pressed F12 when booting up and Ubuntu option.
Any tools to check my partition for errors?
yes but it must be done from Live environment (with the linux partitions all unmounted)
so if F12 gave u the loader, that means your boot order just got changed . not a big deal.
if u want to check and/or repair, boot live Mint USB. open Disks app, choose the partition (ext4 or btrfs one) and the gear icon> Check Filesystem
My Exfat usb didn't show in F12 menu, should I try F2 to bios?
Threw the iso in it
is it prepared with Ventoy?
this only works if you prepare the stick with Ventoy.
What was the name of the other app?
u cant just copy an ISO to a blank USB and expect it to boot
I don't like using Ventoy
Universal USB Installer
use that.
found at www.pendrivelinux.com
Will Rufus work from Windows 10?
yes
but make sure to use GPT partitioning mode
if this computer is less than 7 years old
otherwise it just may never show in the F12 quickboot menu
default
as long as the 'target system' says for UEFI (and possibly BIOS)
and GPT partioning style
if this is newish computer
My laptop is from 2020 or 2021 so it should be UEFI
Using an old usb drive with 18 MB/s write is pain.
it's ok. only should take about 5-6 minutes
and let it REST another half minute too after it says done.
so u don't get errors.
Don't worry my drive has been formatted like 5 times in a year, it would die by now if I was doing something wrong.
Also my F12 menu has a leftover entry from when I tried Fedora, what would happen if I clicked it?
it just would not work
you can clean it later.
this is important
Thank god I had Windows 10 on a dual boot this time even tho I am using it to fix an issue it created.
always keep your RUFUS or UUI or ventoy'd usb with Mint ISO available in a safe, easy to get place
as an emergency boot and diagnostics disk
it should be done already
57%
i hope u didnt touch the "Persistent size" slider in Rufus
cuz that will certainly add more time.
Also I found it weird that the Windows partition had corrupted sectors and was blue screening until I ran chkdsk.
avoid writing to NTFS from Linux
I will use F2 to fix my boot order and boot from the USB.
I am soo good at turning a 5 minute job into an hour and 5 minute job.
Still doesn't show it
What about advanced options recovery?
no
use ventoy
or add some other uefi device to your boot list
allow usb devices in boot list
that may have gotten turned off
proper settings
well check bios settings
if u used rufus in uefi/gpt mode it should be listed in bios options somewhere
I am dealing with it tomorrow as it crashed again and I won't let it crash on me until it hides grub behind Windows boot manager.
@timid sigil
Should I also fix this one as the others are Windows related?
