#GTX970 GPU drivers

Hello! A couple years ago I retired my first ever built PC after a decade of loyal service. I'm not ready to throw her out just yet, but running win7 is simply not ideal anymore and I intend to give it new life with Linux in the livingroom as a multimedia device for movie nights, jackbox, and other fun things as it lives out its retirement. Now, the crux is that it has a NVIDIA GPU and as everyone knows, there are always issues on their end when it comes to GPUs.

So my question is, what's the state of the available drivers for old GPUs like that?
