anyone know why using asterisk to search recursively would suddenly stop working? i used to use it to search for all the sub-folders and files inside a folder but it doesn't seem to work... I tried rebooting and yeah, there are files in the directory I'm searching for

whoa, i realize the search itself isn't actually working

#

it works for apps and the like just not for folders/files

Do you mean the menu search?

#

like this for example

#

usually it would list everything in the current folder

#

it just suddenly stopped working

You're welcome )

#

however, the search function itself, has it always been just able to search for apps and not files/folders?

#

like here?

jovial pecan
#

If you mean search in the menu, I think it searches only what's in the menu

sly rampart
#

gotcha, thanks again

You might want to look into cinnamenu applet for more powerful menu search

open file manager, (nemo) and press ctrl-f

#

click some point in the file system; before ctrl-f

#

then type. no need for * really

#

if you have slow-ass external drives, unmount them first, before searching from the filesystem's root

#

for more advanced search, including by date range, install kfind
