I have the flash drive I used to install Mint Cinnamon with, and it's hitting a screen that says grub version 2.12. I had previously failed to install Nobara (another Linux distro).
I got to the screen where you type in the number password to verify the OS change, then I hit the grub screen.
This is tough because I only have a chromebook as a backup device.
Gemini says to use my chromebook to use the chromebook recovery utility to create a new mint flash drive.
I'm not sure that would change anything...

idk anything about number passwords on chromebooks much, but reflash the stick and verify both the ISO u get from the internet first and THEN verify it again once flashed onto the stick.
use a Windows or Linux computer to get the ventoy flasher, and use that.

and make very sure to give the stick about a minute or so to 'cool down' and finish its business internally after ISO is transferred to it. Always safe-eject the usb stick before transferring to another pc.

if u absolutely can't get on a Windows pc, then look up Etchdroid

I'm trying to fix it with what I have now, which is a flash drive to write the OS on, a Nint Cinnamon USB drive that apready worked on the laptop, and my chromebook
If I need to get onto a stable windows or Linux machine, I should be able to.
It would be a major PITA tho
There is a Linux club at my local university, I believe... I'd give them a flash drive if they hooked me up

it's better with ventoy. prep the stick once. in gpt mode - and it's good forever
u can drag n drop iso's or regular files onto it then
n erase isos at will

I'm confused tho, because I already wrote a mint USB drive that I verified and everything. It worked on my currently bricked laptop that won't accept it.
I could post screenshots of the file/folder architecture on my USB drive and get any properties I can thru my chromebook? Someone please LMK if that would be

I'm guessing a different USB with another verified copy of Linux? Cuz I don't imagine copying the flash drive that already worked earlier but is not working not would be the best strategy

Yes
Mint Cinnamon wasn't running Skyrim and Civ 6. I do language learning in those games on top of, well, gaming.
Windows 11 was doing fine.
As I understand, Nobara should be my best bet
