please its been another like 20 minutes and I dont want to break it 😭
I shut it down
I am going to just try again and pray I didnt js fuck up my shi
Oh great heavens!
Uh yeah I rebooted and ts happened again
Am I cooked or should I try like
getting a new cinnamon iso?
Maybe a good idea
😭
ts so chuzz
Also I am using ventoy if that might cause any issues(?)
Whats ventoy?
Multi iso thingy
Is it multiple isos on the same usb? If not then it may not be an issue
It is, but like thats its purpose
Before you install could you open system reports/system info if those exist on the usb
ummm maybe, idk where I could find that
In the bottom left of your screen, in the taskbar looking thing there should be the linux mint logo
Click it and type "system"
If not just open a terminal (ctrl t) and output inxi -Fxxx
Like in linux?
Yes
Because I cant currently boot into linux
when I try to I get the kernel smth smth wtv with the purple
I googled the error and found that it could be a faulty usb
Is safe boot enabled in your bios?
I mean secure boot my bad
Some people seem to be saying that its to do with a faulty usb
I dont think I have secure or safe boot enabled, I think the shut down corrupted the usb so I switched to a new one and just used rufus. But now I no longer get a dual boot option?
I have no clue what the problem is atp
Yeah do the manually partition
Should work the same
Any progress?
it may have gotten stuck if u left Fast Startup on in Windows
boot windows and do powercfg /a in command prompt. make DAMN sure it says Fast Startup is 'not available' or disabled or blocked by current system policy
and boot the install usb properly

I am probablly going to do this stuff now, but my main problem now is that I dont get an option for installing dual boot on a completely new freshly setup usb
press win+r , then type msinfo32
and read the BIOS MODE line in the resulting information screen
u gotta boot the usb as shown
cuz win 11 guaranteed uses uefi mode
you should probably preshrink some space on the C: volume (100 gigs or more)
use disk management app, or aomei partition assistant the freeware
.
I think ts is saying it is on
powercfg /h off from admin terminal
Run cmd as admin?
So just make a partition for Linux before installing?
k
So like ts?
And the when installing linux click the custom and install there?
Also how would the dual boot switching work? Like when I start my pc and want to switch between the 2 what do I?
do I do*
yes. perfect
well, here's the deal: if u boot the USB like i showed in my picture,
you WILL get the option in the installer to "install alongside Windows"
if not, then there's some other devil at work
Well I did it the same last time I think and it didnt but I will try again
When I got this I did it afaik how you are guiding me to
i'd recommend boot to the live desktop, then search the app Disks by name in the applications menu (start menu) and have a look and make damn sure the drive target appears there first
( 1 TB drive, which is the one u just shrank)
@woeful vault ^^
k
👍
i feel like my dad rn 😭🙏
but heres what i have done so far fyi just to keep track of steps
try it
you can see in bottom left of Ventoy white screen, it shows UEFI mode so, that's proper at least.
ts normal yeah?
you u see four partitions before the empty gap?
uhm kinda
Yes this time
perfect, hit continue
k
oh it was there in pic background, just saw it
you'll get a black GRUB 2.x menu that lets u choose each time at power on
cool
keep your ventoy stick intact. it will be your best friend in case any computer emergencies. plus u can use as regular usb stick from now on
Lmao I can skip "Installing system..."
I wouldnt I wouldnt.... maybe
jk, great success, thx bro, ion know why it was having horrible issues
Yup
🥳
