#Feedback / When do you tend to use this channel over mint, linux, or misc support?

I'm about to use it for a small question that might be flooded in general chat.
seems like none of the questions that get put here are small questions
Yeah, I have seen you complain about that multiple times before, noted.
Maybe misc support and this should be merged in one. I do not see the need of so many support channels.
personally I just direct people with smaller help requests like installing some app, configuring some apps etc. I try to direct problems that require more work like driver or installation issues to mint support. I think it is fine as it is.
this.
As I just posted on here, my reasoning ended up being that I had a singel opinion based question, and not really a "support" question so to speak. Did spend a minute or so deciding tho, as I didn't quite know what qualifies as a "small" question
As I said. My opinion is to merge it with misk support.
a question that's answered in 6 words or less.
Thank you all 🙇
Will try to make any changes with a slow transition and with least amount of information loss.
After the chat support channel triage, this has become quite a bit less popular compared to before, but still as often checked as triage.
We can try to make it read only for a month or so, so peeps use the other support channels; mint, linux and misc for everything not in triage, small or big question, do not have to decide, see if we run into any issues, then see from there.
This moved from being around #5 most read channel to #12, triage is #11 now, these two change places often.
mint continues to be #3 after announcement and general.
More feedback is welcome, of course. Think I will keep this pinned until October start.
Oh also, Zeeb thought of triage like a support general channel among other things, that might help if some of you find it difficult to see what role it plays.
where will you post threads about windows/android, then?
What is misc support for?
misc is not super popular, but it covers everything other than linux and mint, so not planning any changes to it.
No merge channel features on Discord, but I think Marius meant more like merge what it covers, and yeah if small question is not available it kind of merges with all three support channels in a way.
mint - all things Linux Mint
linux - all things Linux that is not Linux Mint
misc - everything else, other os, hardware, web stuff, this server stuff, all the other possibilities
perhaps also could remove the Description: Steps to reproduce: etc from the channels description. I don't think anyone uses it and it's just too long
Oh, yeah they could use some updates, possibly with some common inxi commands and stuff separated by category, like for graphics issue, share this output,
Another problem is people put mint questions in linux-support
And general Linux questions in mint-support
Happens, but both are quite rare I think, almost normal level in my view, I just add the off topic tags and let them be, so helpful citizens know, the asker knows, works okay.
That's the final thing. Leave just one for both topics.
Not so rare.
