#Linux Mint Not Using GPU?
55 messages · Page 1 of 1 (latest)
if Secure Boot is on in the BIOS, then the proprietary drivers will be blocked from loading
When I tried to disable secure boot it caused Linux Mint to boot to a black screen.
I had to reenable it for it to work again.
try these five lines then:
#1295763692415356968 message
and make simple AT LEAST 9 DIGIT secure boot password
and take wayland off. ur in wayland mode
also, if this is very old nvidia card, it's out of support. you will have to use the "nouveau" driver in Driver Manager
This is a new NVIDIA card.
!!
RTX 5060
?
Why the exclamation marks?
How do I disable wayland mode? In the login screen?
I did the five lines.
Should I reboot?
Gonna reboot. Brb.
I enrolled MOK and switched to normal Cinnamon.
Still no driver.
I guess I will switch to Cachy OS later this week.
I'd recommend a distro that has nvidia ISO or nvidia support built-in - like Zorin OS core, or Tuxedo OS , or (least favourite UI-wise to me - Pop OS
Thank ya.
Try switching to nouveau immediately
after it reboots, check inxi -G && mokutil --sb . No, open driver manager, and press nouvau driver open source, then reboot
i was answering no to "xserver"
I hate this slow mode!!
The only option is xserver-xorg-video-nouveau.
Is that not the right version?
yes keep on x-server also
Make SURE ur not on wayland
it's not really ready for primetime on Cinnamon
inxi -G Will show server and all graphics
You know what?
inxi -Gxxx for monitor info and deeper info
I apologize. I am just going to try Cachy OS later this week.
I thank you for your help. I am just burned out.
I sincerely apologize for wasting your time.
then get the KDE version of cachy
Why that one?
at least its wayland-ready
O.k.
if need be
