Hello All, I hope someone can help me out please?
I have an ASUS T100TA Tablet Laptop and docking keyboard with Linux Mint 19.1 Cinnamon 32bit OS with 2 issues:
Issue 1. When booting up, it goes into the OS, but seems to be stuck in a loop when logging into the User profile.
Issue 2. I can get into the BIOS and see & select the bootable USB, but it does not boot into the USB so that I can update with a clean install of Linux Mint 19.3 32bit OS.
I want to gift my ASUS T100TA to a friend who's laptop blew up him as it will 100% serve his needs.
So I started preparing it for him:
a. I created a 2nd Administrator user for him, so I could backup my own user data & remove my user profile.
b. When I tried to boot into / log into his new profile, the unit kept logging into my profile. After some searching & I found it was configured to auto login.
c. I followed the steps of this video: How to disable auto log in LINUX MINT - https://youtu.be/3Nku0M9_XBE?si=IOWNHT7Re5LxfYBN&t=57 Since then when booting up, it goes into the OS, but seems to be stuck in a loop when logging into the User profile.
d. I did manage to load the Mint Recovery mode via the Grub menu and access the terminal.
e. So I thought your video would help it load the User without password / authentication: How to DISABLE authentication in LINUX MINT 22 (prevent SUDO passwords) - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jjRKVPQAN04 This did not work as expected, despite being able to do as your video shows.
f. I tried everything to boot from the Bootable USB (tested fine in my main laptop), and despite it showing in the BIOS, it brings up error code 0xc0000225 in Windows indicating a Boot Configuration Data (BCD) issue the system can't find or access the files needed to boot. So the unit seems to have a broken / corrupt UEFI.
I made this video showing it's behavior - https://youtu.be/Rs1dTTN-ACA
I would greatly appreciate any help with these problems.
Regards
FrancoisS
