Like I said in the title, I switched to Mint 22 from 21.3 and I noticed that certain applications dont actually adopt the themes I installed anymore? Like the screenshot tool or disks tool(its just the one that comes preinstalled) was able to get themed using OneStepBack when I was using 21, but its stuck on the default themes on 22? I upgraded before getting pictures to compare because I didnt think this was going to happen sorry

if this is how mint 22 is like, i would rather downgrading back to 21 honestly

I'll check later but I assumed my time shift snapshots would've been wiped from the upgrade

#

either way it's odd that newer versions of the applications don't allow theming anymore if that's true

If apps are using newer GTK verions there is a chance your themes won't apply to them, or there have been changes which are out of the scope of your theme.

The theme I use for example doesn't get applied to the workspace switcher for 22.1

oh! I wonder why gtk would do that

#

glad to know it's not mints fault or something I messed up! I should switch back to 21.3 though

just try seeing if your theme has something updated for those newer versions or find one that is very close

#

you can also try directly editing your theme's original code altho that would require a bit of work

#

also the longer you drag on updating older versions the more problems can appear from updating too quickly between versions

ahhh I see

Wait, @acoustic coral check this out...

#

Is that how it's supposed to look like? Idk about the windows... I'm on Plasma.

hmm.. the gtk theme I mainly use hasn't been updated in 8 months but that may be soon enough for an update OH MY GOODNESSConcerned

#

uhhh Its not supposed to look like that

Yeah, thought so.

#

Anyways, expect the state of application theming to go worse, if you continue to use GNOME apps.

#

Not that many GTK4 themes are built to take account for libAdwaita.

#

There are only two that comes in mind for me: Yaru and libAdapta.

That black is too dark.

yes my theme

But yeah, it's supposed to be themed... I wonder what went wrong?

#

Maybe some configs? Do we have to check dconf-editor?

acoustic coral
#

theme could be simply very old or not made for newer versions

Can't say myself... I'm on Plasma. Been happy with Breeze so much, I kept it here.

when I can I'll download the updated version of the theme to see if it takes libadwaita in account

#

if not... I'll have to find a new retro looking theme to use instead

and if I can't even find that.. I'll have to see if there's a way to change the default apps to the previous versions of gtk

#

oh I was mostly talking to myself, sorry
