coreboot?
Huh
a chromebook?
Yeah
look at last info.
btw Chromebooks are always faulty with linux re: audio. seen this dozens of times here
plus that sof-audio driver was my first tip-off before i even saw it's a chromebook. mark of death

slim chance, but that's all I've ever seen remotely close to helping the core issue
You can try kernel 6.14 though
^ that can be easily test driven on Ubuntu 25.04
or you'll need one of these, or pure Bluetooth playback device if your CB has BT
It says waiting for cache lock
Could not get lock
I mean it's available in update manager - linux kernels, so why not try?
then you're installing or updating something right now
Nothing is going on tho
o I didn't know was in repo now
Show us the screenshot
I alr closed terminal
so , close any software manager that is open
that's first rule
then open the UPDATE manager from the tray, the shield icon
then go to its VIEW menu
kernel manager, and look for 6.14 on the sidelist
6.14.0-27?
And install all available updates too
Ok
yes
new kernel demands restart of pc
Shit taking a long for packagekitd to exit
Its been stuck on the same thing for the past few mins
Bar hasn’t even moved
Screenshot?
Do you have software manager open?
check the side arrow for details in that small window
Fuck, my wifi wasn’t connected 😭
that'd do it
@solemn orbit
If just upgrading the kernel won't be enough, you can try https://github.com/WeirdTreeThing/chromebook-linux-audio with him. I gotta go for today.
that's the same as this #1331687918267273256 message which I linked above.
no guarantees it'll work.
I decided to just deal with it
