what is the next distro that you would recommend to a beginner that installed and used mint for a few weeks? I'm thinking of changing into another distro that supports hyprland just to experience and probably rice it.

Well, latest Mint has Wayland support so in theory it can run Hyprland just fine? Just a few days ago I installed and played around with Sway (which is based on Wayland as well) in my Mint and I didn't run into any issues. Granted I didn't do much testing, but it worked.

As for other distributions, I don't know, EndeavourOS maybe, but I did not have experience with it either.

I looked over documentation and then over Hyprland discord, it seems possible, but like ubuntu and debian packages are outdated and building from source isn't a beginner thing to do, so EndeavourOS if going to switch distros. It's Arch based, but should be simpler on GUI and stuff.

Go for Arch or Endeavour if you want to try Hyprland, and then if you end up wanting something more stable but more "modern" than Mint, try Fedora KDE

#

Or Fedora Sway, if you really like tiling window managers

since switching over to linux mint, i haven't used my mouse much lately

#

just using the tiling manager

#

will try using endeavour

#

after some small research, endeavour with xfce DE and wm of i3 or hyprland sounds good to me but i do not know if it's possible

#

if it's possible then i think i'll probably migrate from mint to it

You should be able to stay on Mint if you want to try xfce + i3

i see

endeavourOS being an arch based thingy, is it lighter weight than linux mint?

#

just want to make this thinkpad of mine run snappier

I wouldn't say that. It might be slightly faster, but even in extreme circumstances the desktop is going to be what makes the difference (unless you go outside of all the super popular distros)
