so this isn't all about linux mint itself but, there is this really annoying bar in firefox i wanna remove,

Right click on the tab strip or the bookmarks area, anywhere around there.

There should be a modal with a Customize option on it.

#

Go with that, see the options in the bottom part of the screen.

There should be an option to disable that.
