Hey guys!, i've been absolutely dying to try linux, i'm a beginner in all of this so its a bit hard for me.., i wanna dual boot windows 11 and linux mint, i have 2 problems..

first: i have 2 terrabyte harddrive a 200gig ssd but a 8gig usb and i can't install windows iso and linux mint iso at the same usb (sadly i cant get another usb atm)

second: i really tried shrinking the H: and the C: but it can only go up to 1 gig.. tho i have sooo much more storage its so weird

is there a way i can do dual booting starting with an 8gig usb?

install Windows first to the HDD. Use Ventoy to prepare the USB installer stick

#

you can just delete the windows ISO file off of ventoy later, and replace with a Linux distro ISO later, from within your working new Windows install.

#
  • disable windows fast startup once installed. (in control panel: power options: what buttons do)
  • disable or unencrypt Bitlocker if windows Disk Management mentions anything Bitlocker
#

Boot ventoy with linux mint (or other distro) on it. You can use its included gparted app to resize the large Windows partition that now hogs your HDD

#
  • You may now run the installer link on the Mint live desktop, and choose the 'install alongside' option when presented it.
