I made a dual boot in my computer between w10 and Linux mint, and the installation went fine but nothing seems to work on it.

the errors I found (so far) are:

  • update manager not being able to install any updates to anything
  • Software manager never finishes loading
  • cinnamon spices doesn't work
  • trying to open Firefox results in an instant crash

please help me 😭

might be booted a weird way .. time to diagnose.

do df -h in term. does it report a line mentioning efi vars?

may want to research via google whether GeForce 940MX GPU is still supported in Linux with official drivers.

ok so next, boot to Mint, you should have working WiFi. then you can open Software Manager, go to its little menu icon at top, and click 'refresh/reload package list'

then after it's done, try to install a simple app like 'gnome sound recorder' and see if it works fine or crashes

regarding spices you add from either the DESKLETS module, or the APPLETS module, they must be 'managed' in the manage tab. eg: select the item, click the + button to actually put it into play.

they also have a gear icon next to them, and sometimes need to be configured.
