thin hearth
#

your monitor is 1.78:1 ratio

rich estuary
#

ok

thin hearth
#

1920x1080 is 1.78:1 ratio also

rich estuary
#

ohhhhh ok

thin hearth
#

it matches.

rich estuary
#

so what i want is 1280x800 ig

thin hearth
#

you can do 1600x900 or 1366x768 resolution too , and be in correct ratio

#

what does the DISPLAY settings give u?

rich estuary
#

um

#

better aim

#

i am actually a comp player of an fps game on roblox called rivals

#

so switchd to linux

thin hearth
rich estuary
#

yes it gives me better aim and performance

#

since the target is wider

thin hearth
#

no , open DISPLAY

#

from start menu search

rich estuary
#

ok ok

#

done

thin hearth
#

does it offer any others. like the 2 i said, or your desired one?

rich estuary
#

yes

#

do i apply

thin hearth
#

u found ur setting?

#

if so, then yes.

rich estuary
#

ok

#

so the thing is

#

i dont want the black bars, i want it stretched

thin hearth
#

what is the exact setting u put it to just now?

rich estuary
#

the setting is

#

1280 x 1024

#

it matched my need and desires

thin hearth
#

no 1280x800?

rich estuary
#

no

thin hearth
#

hang on...

rich estuary
#

oh

#

so how do i fix that

rich estuary
thin hearth
#

follow it well, and accurately and through to the end

rich estuary
#

alr

thin hearth
#

oh shizz...

#

does it even load for u?

rich estuary
#

nuh uh

thin hearth
#

dammit, it was a good vid

rich estuary
#

it doesnt lol, it says 'the video go bye bye'

thin hearth
#

there is some way to do it.. it involves xrandr

#

and creating a new mode line

rich estuary
thin hearth
#

and lastly, adding that setting to some file at the end.. i forget which was exactly

#

so that it saves on reboot

rich estuary
#

well if i run xrandr and all things i get it but

#

not the stretched part

thin hearth
#

just google this info:

#

`create new resolution mode line in linux'

Alternatively, you could see if roblox plays nicely under gamescope, then you could just stretch out Roblox instead of the entire desktop

#

I think you could test that (after installing gamescope through apt, it isn't preinstalled on Mint) by running in the terminal:
gamescope -w 1280 -h 800 -f -- flatpak run followed by the flatpak ID of sober

#

I'll see if it's under a similar name

#

There is also a flatpak version but I'm not familiar with how to use it

rich estuary
#

oh ok

#

Unfortunately it seems like it would need to be manually compiled on Mint

oh ok
