Hello all, I installed Linux Mint onto a USB and dedicated half of it for Linux Mint OS. It remembers things I've installed, But when I boot into LInux using the USB it loads Mint automatically without prompting for a password. I've scoured the options and preferences looking for a setting to fix this, and I've also tried the internet, but can't find a clear answer. I don't want to have to enter a password for every little thing I do, just when first signing on.
Thanks in advance.

#1 the Mint live usb session is NOT TO BE COMPARED to an install. It is made with no security in mind, and just a testing and installation environment

#

#2 the installer gave you the option to require a password to login before reaching desktop.

#

if you unticked that then, you can changed it via Settings: Login, and removing your username from the login field

#

#3 things that require administrative privileges will ALWAYS REQUIRE the superuser's password. There is a timer for this while in the terminal.

#

#4 things like chromium-based browser always ask for keyring to unhide history n links in the browser. Setting mandatory password on OS log-in will satisfy the keyring so it wont ask for those later.

#
  • if what you have made is a LIVE USB WITH PERSISTENCE, that is NOT an installation.
