Hey yall

So I got a fresh flash install of Mint for my laptop. I tried to install it and it was doing all it needed to until I got this error:

executing grub-install /dev/nvme0n1 failed

I’ve turned on UEFI mode through terminal to be sure it’s going.

Turned off Sceure Boot

I’ve reinstalled it to the flash multiple times and nothing is working. Who amongst you will be my knight in shining armor?

Maybe the drive bad or something. Try to install another distro like fedora to see if it resolves your problem. Be carefull with BTRFS drives on fedora.

Yes it is. But is the only solution.

So just install fedora from another pc, flash it and install onto my computer? Will I then be able to uninstall that and reinstall mint?

ah so it may have not installed right (no kernel , no repair)

#

open disks

#

show the internal drive

reinstall without encryption

#

then only if needed, run boot repair tool.

tawny timber
#

So run the installer and don’t have it encrypted

tranquil storm
#

if you desperately need encryption at some point later on.. use veracrypt app to make vaults or containers

tawny timber
#

Ok

#

Just double checking

#

@tranquil storm

tranquil storm
#

right

tawny timber
#

That’s what I’ve been doing but I’ll see if it does the same error then I’ll do the boot repair

tranquil storm
#

don't elect to encrypt home or ANYTHING

tawny timber
#

Didn’t do that

tranquil storm
#

not just for this case, but in general. Unless u have serious deep reasons to

tawny timber

on nvme, install should take about 3 to 4 minutes

tawny timber

tranquil storm

#

reboot and test it first

tawny timber
#

So do you want me to run install again and see what happens?

tranquil storm
#

no

#

did u reboot to the nvme and test?

#

@tawny timber

tawny timber
#

Yeah I ran the boot repair and it says the it was successful

tranquil storm
#

then test it

tawny timber
#

Test as in run install I assume

tranquil storm
#
