#I have enabled Secure Boot and I get this message every once and awhile

I am dual booting Windows and Mint. Battlefield on windows for some reason requires Secure Boot to be enable to play.

I really don't like the concept that a game requires secure boot, but since future titles may need it enable, I decided that it would be best to enable it now.

I ran Mint through the mok management. Everything runs as it did before enabling Secure Boot.

However, when I boot my PC, I am sometimes met with this message.

I press F1 and without ever changing the settings, exit and boot.

I know that Secure Boot can cause some problems. I just hope someone has a solution for me as I don't want to keep going into UEFI on boot.

Could anyone help me?

Thank you. I turned off fast start up. I also turned off Fast Boot in the UEFI settings too. I thought that might be causing the problem too.

#

Since it’s an intermediate problem, I’ll see if it comes up again in the next couple of boots. It didn’t on my most recent one

@wispy shuttle Unfortunately, still have the same issue after turning off fast startup

good. keep that off. perhaps reinstall linux 100% in secure boot mode

#

that entails making a sb password it prompts u to dduring install (not same as user account password) then regstering it on first reboot in blue screen

Okay, I'll try it when I have some time

#

thank you

#

ASUS has Windows UEFI mode for secure boot to be enabled. Would that be a problem?

wispy shuttle
#

no, but you would need to install Linux Mint or Ubuntu and register it post-install from a blue screen somehow. do some research on that last step

vapid jewel
#

The MOK screen?

wispy shuttle
#

also any proprietary drivers, eg: nvidia. or realtek, broadcom, would need to be registered

#

if expecting to use such drivers

vapid jewel
#

I didn't do that in this install, should I try that before reinstalling?

wispy shuttle
#

probably.

vapid jewel
#

How would I register a nvidia driver?

wispy shuttle
#

a question best left for google or jeremyb here, or see the mint forums

vapid jewel
#

okay

vapid jewel
#

Thank you for the suggestion. Nvidia sure in fact does not enroll them

#

Quick question, how do I find the public certificate path for the nvidia drive?

#

diver

I will need someone’s help unfortunately. I messed it up, Driver manger would not recognize nvidia anymore and gave me graphic problems.

#

Doing a Timeshift Restore

#

Does this look correct?

#

I assume that it should show the GPU as "on"

#

Actually, that is correct.

#

Well, I won't do anymore until I get guidance

#

One thing that I think is important is that the error message comes up usually when booting up after I have my pc unplugged. I tried shutting down then booting back up and no problems.

#

Maybe it’s a CMOS battery problem. Let me know.

#

I think everything is enrolled in the MOK management. I just wanted to confirm that I’m right?

wispy shuttle
#

use the graphical application Resources to monitor nvidia usage over time and load. the smi CLI one is crap.

I’ll try it and will be back with an update
