if it is a linux filesystem, (ext2/3/4, btrfs) then click the gear icon, and 'take ownership'

coral wasp
#

then it needs to use a windows utility to scan for and correct errors

Aight I'll try tomorrow

yes it's better

#

ntfs shouldn't be used on linux for heavy use/writing anyway

Are this two options the same.....

sort of the same.

#

delete takes away all formatting, and makes the filesystem disappear

#

formatting creates a filesystem

#

if u want to use that drive as a fresh place to store stuff for Linux only, then use the dots menu in DISKS

#

and choose the 'format drive' option

#

that will erase everything,

#

then click the + button

Aight ill try

# vocal lion Ext4

cool. if you did it from the actual Disks app, not gparted, then you already have permissions for your own user to write to the drive

#

if u need another program to write to it, like Steam for example, u must change the folder permissions in the root folder of the new volume to allow read/write access for 'all others' (the third grouplet)

#

otherwise, you're all set. Enjoy!
