#I'm looking for a way to reduce my boot time

plymouth is that boot logo of mint. you can disable / uninstall it
if you don't use printers/scanners i think you can also disable avahi
if disabling it causes any network issues just enable it but it should be for printers and scanners only
Also, the output of
systemd-analyze
systemd-analyze critical-chain
would be nice
it is ran everytime u shutdown / start your system
and I think it even has a background process that waits for you to shutdown that runs while your system is on
doubt it
depends how much you care about boot time
sudo apt purge plymouth
sudo apt autoremove
27 seconds is pretty fast I'd say. 6 seconds firmware and 5 seconds loader you can't really do much about I think, that leaves 16 seconds of actual boot
I have minimal debian so idk what is normal boot time for mint
my total is 11 seconds i think
you can go very minimal depending on what you want to sacrifice :D
Removes lefover packages that aren't needed by other packages anymore
lets say you have a package called
cat
cat has dependencies/recommended packages called meow and walk
if you remove cat, meow and walk might stay so you autoremove them
sure
CTRL ALT F6
is it still just a black terminal?
DO
CTRL ALT F7
does that give u the old login screen?
does it say TTY6 at the top?
one sec
lemme see which tty has the graphical stuff
try CTRL ALT F1
maybe its on tty1
if it doesnt have the graphical interface just login and do startx
startx after login
did you delete something called lightdm?
do "sudo apt install lightdm"
huh
1.do startx after login to get into graphical interface
2. do sudo apt install lightdm
3. if already installed do
sudo apt install -reinstall lightdm
lol
you can
welp lightdm deppends on plym thing on mint
no
you pretty much deleted "meow"
so it deleted cat:D
plym is meow
light dm the login screen is cat
it takes a while
to restore
it's a terminal?
was the TTY6 thing also gray or black?
don't touch it
if it's still stuck in 5 mins ping me
still?
how big was your system in gb?
10-20-50 gb
it backs up your images videos etc too
just restart it manually. It probably can't restart because lightdm isn't working properly
