#Trying to redo my Linux Mint installation

When I first started my Linux journey I decided to go for Linux Mint that can duel boot with Windows 10, but later on I decided to just say screw it and wanted to wipe away Windows.

So I restarted the process by using the USB boot drive I have, but it seems to have created Mint on another SSD of mine, but it doesn't boot up, it just gives me this screen. This is not my pic but it's the same screen I got. Would it be wise to wipe the drive clean? Because I am able to boot up the Linux Mint duel boot with Windows that I first installed just fine

sure, boot up Windows real quick

#

need to get some information

#

first windows

I'm not at home right now since I'm at work.

feral epoch
#

ah

#

well when you return, you'll need to check what I'm about to link you here

#

and btw, you do not have to reinstall Linux Mint if you want to eliminate Windows. it can simply be stretched

feral epoch
#

see method 1 in post with hearts,

#

to confirm what it is on right now (when u get back)

shy valley
#

I also was wanting to know if I could just keep the current version of the Linux Mint that I first installed (the duel boot version) and just revert to just only Linux Mint.

shy valley
#

OK gotcha.

#

Keep reading too fast. Lol

#

I'll get back to you on this later.

feral epoch
#

ok try later

#

(turn fast startup off before anything if it is found to be on in Windows)

shy valley
#

Sure thing. Will keep up to date

shy valley
#

OK, so I remember that I did some similar steps before, but when I boot the computer up it still shows the grub menu still.

feral epoch
shy valley
#

Ahh okay

feral epoch
#

hold up though

#

so this is you existing linux, and did you delete any partitions?

shy valley
#

Yeah, this is the duel boot linux mint that I'm able to use, not the new one which I haven't installed.\

feral epoch
#

ok so u resized the ext4

shy valley
#

Yeah

#

I believe I did all this on Tuesday.

feral epoch
#

ok, i'd advise to check efibootmgr

shy valley
#

Since I only started using Linux Monday

feral epoch
#

and probably clean that up

shy valley
#

Just type it in Terminal?

shy valley
feral epoch
#

entry 0000 , remember that, deal with that, and only that.

#

after that's all done,
sudo xed /etc/default/grub
and change the grub timeout to 0 and timeout style to hidden

shy valley
#

affirmative

feral epoch
#

then save file, and sudo update-grub

#

how've you already filled up more than half your drive in just 3 days?

shy valley
#

500gb+ of music I moved over there.

#

Losseless FLAC files mostly.

feral epoch
#

1.14 TiB used

shy valley
#

There are some games installed too

#

on that drive

#

when deleting an entry, does it wipe the drive clean or will things be intact?

feral epoch
shy valley
#

Gotcha, ok.

feral epoch
#

so just -b 0000 -B

#

after sudo efibootmgr as he shows

shy valley
#

I guess I'll also delte to 0003 since that's the botched install of Linux Mint?

shy valley
#

Most likely. I plan to install Fedora KDE sometime this week so I might as well get rid of it.

feral epoch
#

ignore that ^

shy valley
#

ok

feral epoch
#

sda1.

#

nevermind it.

#

test reboot

shy valley
#

aight

#

Still brought me to that menu on the reboot and I could still see the windows boot option

feral epoch
#

well it sees windows on sda1

#

you can change the grub timeout to =1

#

and update

#

or unplug all other drives before doing update-grub

shy valley
#

Cool all taken care!

#

Thanks for the help.
