i wanted to switch to lightdm from sddm and when i did the steps and rebooted it failed to start and its just stuck with a blinking cursor....

are you able to switch to a different tty? If so can you post the output of systemctl status lightdm

may have to live boot into this mess

or when powering on, press Esc to get to grub, press c for command prompt

pretty sure i've had this error before and it's just a config issue

i fixed it myself i had to uninstall sddm
