#How do I make sure windows doesn't nuke Linux mint when I dual boot
46 messages · Page 1 of 1 (latest)
A likely event would be Windows overwriting Grub during updates.
It can do that even when it's installed on a different ssd
Than windows?
Unlikely, as far as I know.
Ok so I have 2 SSds and I made a 734Gb partition for it. I selected "something else" on the Linux mint live iso
wdym by that
I mean I have 2 SSD one with windows and the other for storage, I shrank the volume on 2nd SSD so I have 734 GB of space on the 2nd SSD for mint now
Good call.
I just want to make sure I have it correctly set up
Would this work?
Those 3 TB are for storage on windows
And the 700gb is for mint
Oh rip, you're now manually partitioning.
I guess so yeah
I mean I made a partition with disk manager in windows and I'm selecting it in the installer
I can't see the entire view properly so it's a bit difficult for me to say.
I'll take a better image
Can you please try and see what the change button does?
Just to be clear, the install now button in the main view is dimmed?
No it is not
Oh okay lol, let's try that one
So press install?
Yep
No root file system is defined
Click that minus sign over there
Ok I did
How's it look like now?
Can I see?
See this guide: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EkNs0384_X0
Will pressing new partition table erase my drive data
Not sure, it's been a year since I last did that.
I somehow figured it out
How's it now?
It's functioning normally
You on a Linux Mint install now?
