#Should I always run things out of terminal?

Hi, I'm a new Linux Mint user and have just a very basic familiarity with Linux. I have recently installed a few programs like Steam and Tuxguitar, and I always open them in the terminal with their name commands ("steam", "tuxguitar", etc.) Is this how I should always typically be doing things? I"m just curious because if I try to close the terminal, I get the (obvious) warning that there is a process still running in it and closing the terminal will close the program. I don't do this with all programs, like Firefox or Discord, so I was just seeking some clarity about how this works. Is it because I installed them differently or even incorrectly? Thanks for the help :)

tldr. absolutely not

that's why launchers show up in the start menu when u install an app. (unless it is a CLI-only app)
