what's ghostwriter anyway?
a distraction-free editor
show a pic of the linux Mint DISKS application, which the drive which you believe the pictures and music were on
(gnome-disks)
show it plz
possible you dragged the music and pics folder into another folder with a bad mouse drag move
what file manager is that?
caja
this is my home folder
get rid of ur name from the address bar
I also tried searching Imagenes but it was unsuccesful
not only that
my downloads folder and my documents folder are clean
The only file in documents is a ghostwriter demo file i made before uninstalling it
did u recently try to restore a Timeshift snapshot, and had told it to restore home?
I never did such a thing D:
ok

were the pictures mostly jpg?
idk
or png?
this whole situation is very specific and weird
cuz from /home do ctrl-F again and search *.jpg
if u say the available free space hasn't changed, then the files got moved.
i also tried using catfish but no results
do you remember the name of one of the documents? (exact first few letters - eg : Essay)
apparently it was moved to /usr/ lmao
cuz you could put caja to root folder (/) and do a ctrl-F and search Essay* as an example
yeah dont rename stuff or use the mv command in terminal ok
use the file manager for those operations from now on
ok thx
did u find ur Music too?
yeah
so to move them back, use the command sudo caja and then cut n paste them back.
?
the images, music and videos folders are not in computer category
uhhh
how do i fix this
i think some xdg command thing can reset that
these folders dont have their respective icons
what is xdg
still, backup your stuff to an external drive before trying anything risky
it's some linux core command that has to do with the GUI
and what's the command
yeah this is related to the xdg reset thing
idk how that got caused in the first place, to have them moved to /usr/
this
All my personal files got deleted :'( for no reason
xdg-user-dirs-update?
oh wait
perhaps. if that's what your research details
~/.config/user-dirs.dirs
that is just a path
on the file there was
XDG_MUSIC_DIR="$HOME/" XDG_PICTURES_DIR="$HOME/" XDG_VIDEOS_DIR="$HOME/"
and i modified it to match my folders
maybe it was resetted
i think the user dirs update command would work but if u fixed it, good
i restarted the system and it got fixed
