#New 1440p monitor boots up to 640x480 in Mint

I was running kernel 6.11.0-19 and Nvidia driver 570.124.04-ubuntu0~gpu24.04.1 in Linux Mint 22.1 on Cinnamon 6.4.8. Everything was working fine with my old LG 1080p monitor. I bought and hooked up a new AOC 1440p monitor and it booted to 640x480. This monitor worked fine in Windows.

640x480 was the only available resolution. I downgraded the driver to Nvidia 550 and was able to boot fine with 1440p resolution. If I run kernel 6.8.0-55, I am able to use the Nvidia 570 driver. But if I try using the Nvidia 570 driver and then use kernel 6.11, I boot to a black screen.

Does anyone know how I can use kernel 6.11 and Nvidia driver 570 with this monitor? I would like to have it the way it was before for gaming. It worked fine with the 1080p monitor. I don't understand why it isn't working now?

TIA!

maybe some secure boot thing, where the drivers worked only cuz they were signed for the 6.8 kernel. idk how u set it up. I bet if u turn secure boot off, it will circumvent the issue

I turned off secure boot when I installed Mint a month ago.

Yeah I know, it's weird that switching monitors caused this. It doesn't make sense.

Does anyone else have any other ideas?

Just to force a custom resolution, or to make sure you don't have nvidia performance mode turned on.

I had this problem recently, I had to go to the monitor menu and configure there then it showed on my system.
