Hi!

I'm a Big fan of Linux Mint and Windows 7 with Aero Glass

I've happily been running a good dualboot between the two for a while so I can use Mint for secure internet browsing / steam games and use 7 for everything else

However curiosity has led me to look at XFCE/Mate with emerald themes (haven't tried yet but it does look pretty)

And other sources say that there are Windows 7 like themes for Cinnamon

I recall using kde in the past as well but frustration led me to give up using kde

My question is what Mint setup would get me closest to a full 7 like experience with aero glass and color schemes included

Thank You 🙏

yeah so i just tried it and basically got it to look like this

#

except I made some modifications, first of all, the instructions on the icon github are really stupid, what you need to just do is extract the zip file to /usr/share/icons but they tell you to overwrite a cinnamon applet which makes no sense here

#

2nd, I didn't want the windows logo for the menu icon and that didn't seem configurable, in fact it turns out what was actually happening was that the windows icon wasnt even really the menu icon, it was hardcoded onto the panel, so I went into the Windows-7.2.1/cinnamon/cinnamon.css and deleted all the rules that reference the OBB files and that fixed it, so now I got the mint logo

#

which btw the menu looks like this

#

oh you know what i forgot the most important missing touch

#

i just downloaded the windows 7 background form google and set it to that

#

its possible that the instruction on the github page was about those symbols on the lower right, those might need manually replaces somehow, but idc enough
