with mint you get a driver manager, so its not hard to install. i use a 4070 and everything work fine
looks like this (this one is older, but work the same)
i haven't seen difference in performance for now. i dont play triple A tho
one thing i forgot to mention, you will need to disable secure boot for the drivers to work
you can do this in your bios/uefi menu
In my case secure boot can be left as it is, also no problems with drivers. But it is true for modern Nvidia GPU. I mean RTX is correctly supported. But years ago, I use to have problems with Nvidia under Ubuntu. I'm quite surprised that 6x series also work well. If I would have to guess, I will say it must be 9x series in my case and almost never it worked out of the box. Usually some linux magic was required after every fresh install
So Mint fixes, or Nvidia improved over years also for older units
on mint 22.1, i had an issue with old driver not working properly that made steam unable to download. i think its because of the drivers not being in the right place
i think it was 472 drivers with a gt 710
yes, but still it is case of rather older nvidia generations GT/GTX. Every RTX should work just fine without any effort
haven't got problem with a 3060 Ti or my current 4070. so yeah work pretty nice
Thanks again! I suppose I can choose between Linux and Windows when I turn on or reboot the PC, right?
You can dual boot with a special software (forgot the name), I can’t help you with that but you can search ‘’dual boot’’ and you will probably find tutorial. You can also ask again in support. when you chose to install mint, you can chose to install it with windows but I don’t know how that work
