#Power sometimes just doesn't want to power?

I recently upgraded from Mint 18 all the way to 22 and I'm really liking a bunch of the stuff they've added. However, I've noticed that whenever I send my computer to sleep or even try turning it off, it only works half the time. In the other half, the drive indicator light completely stops but the power light stays on, forcing me to forcefully power off the machine.

This didn't happen when I was on 18, and it doesn't happen on Windows which I am dual booting.

Obligatories: not super versed in how power even works, sorry if wrong place, happy to provide more info, thanks in advance

You upgraded it so much that you are venturing into unknown territory. Nobody has a test machine upgraded that far. My file server went from 21.2 > 21.3 > 22 > 22.1, and I consider that a long upgrade history already. And it also did some weird things on the last update. You can either spend entirely too much time trying to debug this, live with it, or back up your files and do a clean install.

I'm actually starting to believe it might be a BIOS configuration issue. When I updated, Mint wouldn't boot until I turned off Fast Boot and CSM, else it would supposedly "run out of memory" according to a forum post I followed (can't find it). Chances are, that issue might be relevant. Not really sure if a reinstall is worth it over just dealing with sleep not working only sometimes.

Your issue is nondescript enough that it will look similar to a number of completely different issues. If you ask me, you are wasting your time with this.
