#Headset microphone not detected

Good evening, I hope you are all doing well.
I just did a fresh install of Linux Mint on this computer and I'm trying to join voice chat with a buddy while I'm setting it up. When I joined the call though, he told me that I sounded like I was underwater, and that my mic quality is awful.
Upon further investigation, I found out that Discord was using my Laptop microphone, not my headset microphone. In fact, Linux Mint isn't detecting my headset microphone at all; in neither the System Settings nor in PulseAudio Volume Control.

I've already updated everything to my knowledge, but it's been a very long time since I've used Linux, so I may be missing something. Can anyone assist with this issue?

The headset in question is a Razer Kraken Wired headset. It's not USB based, instead it uses a combo audio and microphone AUX adapter. I can try to find the model of it if needed.

Thanks in advanced.

so the pc jack is 4-pin combo for headset, and the headselt is 4-pin TRRS 3.5mm?

Correct.
I have Windows running on a dual boot as well, and it works just fine on Windows.

#

Also, I lied in the original post it seems- it's a Razer BlackShark.

This is the headset.

The laptop is an Asus ROG Strix

what does pavucontrol show?

#

the config tab should be on analog duplex

#

the input tab should be on analog built-in audio (jack)

You'll have to bear with me if this isn't what you're asking for.

#

It continues to show this, even with the headset unplugged.

that's the one

#

else it would say 'internal mic'

#

and the issue lies with the OS not detecting the state of the jack or circuit

#

nothing u can do really

#

except use a USB dongle
