installing?

#

or installed

raven talon
#

Installed , i was just trying to boot my laptop in morning

#

Its kind of inconsistent I load into mint sometimes and sometimes it's stuck in logo

odd plinth
#

are you dual booting the pc with Windows?

#

@raven talon

raven talon
#

Nope only mint

odd plinth
#

try as SOON as it shows the green logo, to press Escape once. that way you can see what it is getting stuck on, in particular.

raven talon
odd plinth
#

those red things... maybe secure boot issue?

raven talon
#

I have secure boot disabled from start

odd plinth
#

not sure what it could be. try to think back to what was going on , hours or minutes before this issue ever occurred

#

did u say the issue is intermittently happening?

raven talon
#

Nope I am able to load in mint sometimes and can't load in sometimes

odd plinth
#

that means intermittent.

#

check the bios settings for nvme or storage to be in non-RAID, and in AHCI mode

raven talon
#

I have no storage settings in my bios

odd plinth
# raven talon

had a look. in "main" disable fast boot, and it should maybe work, as in it will be more thorough. and also enable the F12 boot menu key thing. can be useful

raven talon
#

I am still stuck in logo

odd plinth
#

i'm out of ideas since the startup messages are few

#

you can google the red ones to see if they really make a difference on the matter

raven talon
#

In Google someone had same error and they said it's generally safe to ignore these error

#

And they said they solved with fsck command

odd plinth
#

fsck already auto runs , it scanned partition 2 and shows clean

#

you may however boot a live CD or usb and do fsck on that dev/partition number yourself anyway

raven talon
#

What I don't understand

odd plinth
raven talon
#

So what can be the problem

odd plinth
#

was it always buggy this way from day one?

raven talon
#

I switch to Linux like 4/5 days ago and only today I am seeing this problem

odd plinth
#

do u get a grub menu?

#

i think not

raven talon
#

No

odd plinth
#

reboot, and tap Esc key BEFORE mint gets a chance to start and show its logo

#

not too early

#

not late

raven talon
#

Yes I am in grub now

odd plinth
#

ok pick advanced options

#

do u see many linux kernel versions?

#

anything more than one version

raven talon
#

I see 3 options

#

Linux mint, advanced options for linux mint and uefi firmware settings

odd plinth
#

advanced

odd plinth
raven talon
#

I see this

odd plinth
raven talon
#

I press enter?

odd plinth
raven talon
#

I see this

odd plinth
#

pick -51

#

regular and boot

raven talon
#

What regular one with recovery mode or without

odd plinth
#

without

raven talon
#

Yup I am stuck in that infinite logo

odd plinth
#

ok darn

#

try -54 in recov. mode

raven talon
#

I hold power button to close right cuz I am stuck in logo rn

#

I do same process but with -54 recovery right

odd plinth
# raven talon

you can try options 1, 3, and 4 from this purple screen

#

in that order

#

til u get positive results

#

with some luck

raven talon
#

I have to do in order 1,3 and 4?

odd plinth
#

ya

#

systematically

raven talon
#

I hit enter?

odd plinth
#

idk it says at bottom

#

prob. enter

raven talon
odd plinth
#

yes just do it

#

sometimes it works

raven talon
#

Nope nothing just blank screen not even logo appers

odd plinth
#

ok try the recov. with dpkg fix

raven talon
#

With 54 recovery mode right

odd plinth
#

yes

#

it seemed that 51 still failed. so seems to rule out kernel

raven talon
#

The 3rd one dpkg fix

odd plinth
#

yeah do it

raven talon
odd plinth
#

no internet then that's why. continue

raven talon
#

I press enter?

#

Now grub turn?

#

The 4th one

#

The fsck one

odd plinth
#

then reboot

raven talon
#

It did nothing right I can hold power button and open again?

#

I can't shutdown in that purple menu

odd plinth
#

use power button

raven talon
#

Yes that doesn't work I am holding

#

This

#

Do select ok and enter

odd plinth
#

root shell

#

then type reboot in root shell

raven talon
#

I select root?

odd plinth
#

then get back to doing the fsck thing

raven talon
#

I let it reboot or enter grub again

odd plinth
#

grub

#

to do recov n fsck

raven talon
#

Again I go to 54 recovery mode right

#

Now fsck?

#

I have done fsck

odd plinth
#

see if it helped. i g2g tho

raven talon
#

What I do reb9ot?

#

I do Reboot?

#

Same from root right

#

"reboot"

raven talon
#

Still same problem stuck in mint logo

glacial wraith
#

Boot from usb stick with mint. Open the terminal. cat /proc/partitions. Then run sudo fsck -y /dev/<your_root_partition>

raven talon
#

I boot from USB stick and open which terminal

glacial wraith
#

sudo fsck -y /dev/nvme0n1p2

raven talon
glacial wraith
#

Now reboot. Let's see if it boots normally.

#

Take out the usb stick.

raven talon
#

Nope still stuck in linux mint logo

glacial wraith
#

Wait for at least 3 minutes. Press esc when showing the mint logo and wait a little bit more. Maybe tells something.

raven talon
#

You mean wait in ljnux mint logo for like 3mins?

#

You mean click escape when mint logo shows and wait ?

#

Only this same error

glacial wraith
#

Reboot
When you see mint logo next time type ctrl+alt+f2
login with your user
Then type startx

#

Let us see what it shows.

raven talon
#

Where I type startx

glacial wraith
raven talon
#

Now what can I do

glacial wraith
raven talon
#

I mean is it fixed

glacial wraith
#

It seems it is fixed.

raven talon
#

I was able to load in in morning too 1,2 times but when I reboot or boot again it stuck at logo again do I reboot to check it?

glacial wraith
#

Reboot and wait for 3 minutes at least.

raven talon
#

Yes I get stuck in logo

glacial wraith
#

Now press ctrl + alt + f2
then log in with your user
then type startx
Make a picture of the screen. Maybe it shows something.

#

If ctrl+alt+f2 is not showing anything, try ctrl + alt + f3 or ctrl + alt + f4 - you should get to a tty that leaves you to log in.

raven talon
#

Again I press ctrl alt f2 when mint logo shows right

raven talon
#

It took me several tires to enter lock screen with ctrl alt f2 it's inconsistent

#

That time

#

I got in

#

Now what I do

glacial wraith
#

Show your screen.

raven talon
glacial wraith
#

Open a terminal. type systemctl status lightdm

#

Give me what it shows.

glacial wraith
raven talon
glacial wraith
#

Run the following commands:

systemctl --user disable gnome-keyring-daemon.socket```
#

Reboot and let me know if it starts correctly.

raven talon
#

Now restart?

#

It says it will still start automatically

glacial wraith
#

Try to reboot.

raven talon
#

Stuck in logo

glacial wraith
#

press ctrl + alt + f2 - you should see only a terminal window that asks you to login.

raven talon
#

I press it once when I see the mint logo right

glacial wraith
#

Yes.

raven talon
#

Nope I only got into lockscreen

glacial wraith
#

press ctrl+alt+f2 now

raven talon
#

What I am already in mint

glacial wraith
#

Yes. You can press it anytime to go to a tty.

raven talon
#

Nothing happens when I press ctrl alt f2

glacial wraith
#

First ctrl + alt, then release them, then press f2.

raven talon
#

When I press f2 my sound decreases

#

Volume

glacial wraith
#

Oh. Reboot again and wait for 5 minutes. Tell me if it leaves you into mint.

raven talon
#

Is it happening cuz of my driver

glacial wraith
#

Do you have an nvidia graphics? Show system info here (add it to a file).

raven talon
#

How add it to a file

glacial wraith
#

Save it as a .txt file on your PC and attach it here.

#

Start menu -> Type system or about -> System info -> Copy to clipboard (you can add it to a file or paste it in discord directly).

raven talon
glacial wraith
#

Type drivers on the start menu, go to graphics drivers and select "recommended" one.

#

Then reboot.

raven talon
#

yesterday i switched to nvidia performance mode is that causing this problem

glacial wraith
#

Maybe yes. Pick on the normal mode.

raven talon
#

now i reboot right

#

i already have recommended driver selected

glacial wraith
#

Have you turned off performance mode in nvidia?

raven talon
#

yes i switched it to normal nvidia on demand mode which was default

#

now can i reboot

glacial wraith
#

Yes.

raven talon
#

Omg finally I didn't have to press anything I entered automaically

glacial wraith
#

Great. Mark this as solved.

raven talon
#

Can I check anything if my device working functional

glacial wraith
#

Sure.

raven talon
#

Do I have to enable them again Run the following commands:

systemctl --user disable gnome-keyring-daemon.socket```
glacial wraith
raven talon
#

Thank you so much I have been trying to fix this straight for like a day
