What do you mean by disable?

you can remove it from the panel if it's pinned there or otherwise set up as a launcher. You can not remove it from Cinnamon without breaking the desktop

#

so hide it if you want, but don't remove it.

#

or use KDE-connect or Warpinator for transferring files from android phones.

that doesn't make any sense

#

that isn't how file managers work

#

the file manager never detects devices in the first place

#

it just lets you access it

#

be aware that there is more to your file manager than just accessing files other apps also open folders and do so in your file manager of choice

#

apps also can choose a file in an interface that is similar and related to your file manager

#

you can most simply use the secondary file manager to JUST manage files on your phone without changing anything

#

even better you can see if there is a fix for the actual problem and just use existing file manager for that too

#

MTP is a kinda huge pile of shit honestly

#

you have to make sure you tell your phone normally every single time that it should share files, then you have to have a good tight connection, the right kind of cable for the right speed of transfer then there is weird shit where it doesn't mount right

and the phone cannot be asleep, can not fall asleep, or go into lock screen mode, otherwise big freeze usually on file manager

oh more fun I thought my port was bad and in reality it just had so much compressed lint it wouldn't actually come out with compressed air and needed 91% alcohol to scrape out the crap aaaand now it works again

#

honestly I use dolphin + kdeconnect even though I don't use KDE anymore

#

its only the latter part that is meaningful

#

file managers don't mount things

#

they may allow the user to initiate mounting things they don't just stand there and wait to mount them
